Benefits of Encouragement
1. Encouragement is a good representation of Jesus Christ.
- “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18 :24
Encouragement” comes from two different Greek words{
- First one is para which means “beside or near,”
- Kaleo which means “to call.”
Literally means to pour confidence or to pour courage into them. En-courage
Encouragement can make a person less vulnerable to sinning
- “But encourage one another daily as long as it is called today so that none of you may be hardened by
- sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13
Encouragement can help you finish the race
- “Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thess 4;18
(What words?)
Our hope is in heaven, not here!
Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night…But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who
are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Let’s spend more time encouraging each other, and more time thinking about Eternity!
