Faith is not a crutch. Faith is like a stretcher or a gurney.
Faith carries us to the one who has everything that we need
What faith does:
1. Faith gives you sight.
- Hebrews chapter 11:1-2, This is what God’s Word said. It says, “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for
- Vs 3 “For by this our ancestors were approved. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.”
- Vs 1 “Faith is a reality of what’s hoped for, the proof of what’s not seen…”
FAITH GOD WANTS FOR ME:
- Is not calling for a completely blind faith
- Is not saying throw out science and throw out all ways to see and observe.
- Is not saying we will never wrestle with doubt.
2. Faith makes you righteous
- Vs 2 “For by this our ancestors were commended.”
- Vs5 “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”[a] For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.” 6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
3. Faith gives you a future
- 13 “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth’
Question
- Does your trust in God get eroded when he doesn’t keep his promises on your timetable?
Much of our trouble comes from the fact we forget:
