- I must spend time with Jesus.
- I must love Him supremely.
- I must love every other disciple.
Today:
2 More Important Marks of a Disciple
If I want to be a disciple, I must always do what Jesus tells me.
“If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” John 15:7-8
- Spiritual growth is an ongoing process.
- Spiritual growth is measured by obedience.
“You only believe the part of the Bible you apply.”
- Spiritual growth is based on God’s word
- Spiritual growth sets me free.
Jesus’ discipleship plan: To know Christ.
- Then you can love him.
- Then you start growing in Christ.
- Then you start serving Christ.
- Then you start sharing Christ.
- To be a Disciple, I must pass on the good news
FOLLOW ME AS I FOLLOW CHRIST
“Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, be my disciples, and I will show you how to fish for people!’ And they left their nets at once and went with him.” Matthew 4:20
Truth:
If you’re not fishing, you’re not following.
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
“IF you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But IF you give up your life for my sake and for
the sake of the Good News, you will find true life.”
Mark 8:35-36
