Thoughts Worth Thinking: Thoughts On Love & Heart

Thoughts Worth Thinking: Thoughts On Love & Heart

1. Love Centric:

Love must be directed toward God and provides to others in forms that resemble God.

“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart,
all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
Matthew 22:37-38

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in
this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.” 1
John 4:16-19

2. Others Focused

    Love is not Self-Centered

“A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:39 )

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13

    “Owe nothing to
    anyone—except for your
    obligation to love one
    another. If you love your
    neighbor, you will fulfill the
    requirements of God’s law.”
    Romans 13:8

    3. Choosing Action.

To act in the best interest of another

“Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.” John 14:24

“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” 1 John 3:17, 18

      4. Love is it

Love is the greatest of all acts and the highest of all attainments

“I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I
could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

        My thinking is:

        • Love centric
        • Others Focused
        • Choosing Action
        • Love…is it
